TORONTO, Aug. 31, 2026 /CNW/ -- BMO and the Northern Super League (NSL) today announced a multi-year renewal of their partnership, reinforcing a shared commitment to growing women's soccer in Canada and expanding opportunities for athletes, fans and future leaders in sport.
As the Official Bank of the NSL and Presenting Sponsor of NSL broadcasts across all platforms, BMO will continue to play a leading role in growing the visibility and reach of Canada's first professional women's soccer league from coast to coast.
Since the league's inception, BMO and the NSL have worked together to help grow the game, create opportunities for athletes and inspire the next generation of soccer players across Canada. Through this renewed partnership, the organizations will expand efforts to develop meaningful legacy programs that strengthen pathways to professional soccer, support the development of girls and women in sport and help retain Canadian talent.
"At BMO, we believe in the power of sport to inspire confidence, create opportunity and bring communities together," said Catherine Roche, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, BMO. "The Northern Super League is helping transform the landscape of women's soccer in Canada by creating opportunities for athletes to compete and thrive at the highest level at home. We're proud to renew our partnership and continue investing in the future of the game, while helping create pathways for the next generation of players, leaders and storytellers in sport."
The renewed partnership will also continue to support opportunities beyond the field of play. Through programs like BMO Next Gen, BMO and the NSL are helping create pathways for the next generation of leaders in sport. Each year, one aspiring female sports media student is selected through a nationwide recruitment process to receive mentorship and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to NSL Media Day and the NSL Championship Final. The program is designed to help develop future leaders in sports media and broadcasting while increasing representation across the industry.
"BMO believed in the Northern Super League and our mission from day one, and we're incredibly proud to see that commitment deepen as our league grows," said Christina Litz, President, Northern Super League. "They have been more than a partner to the NSL; they have helped us build the business and share our belief in what Canadian women's soccer can become. This renewed investment is a meaningful commitment to the institutions we are building here in Canada and to creating a stronger, more sustainable future for the women's game."
The partnership reflects a shared vision to strengthen the women's soccer ecosystem in Canada, from grassroots participation and player development to professional competition and career opportunities throughout the sport.
The announcement builds on BMO's recent partnership with Canada Soccer as its Official and Exclusive Banking and Financial Services Partner and training kit sponsor across the National Teams, coming at a pivotal moment as the Women's National Team enters a critical international window on the road to FIFA Women's World Cup 2027 and the LA28 Olympic Games qualification campaigns.
For more than 20 years, BMO has been a leading supporter of soccer across North America. Through partnerships spanning grassroots programs, youth development, professional clubs and national organizations, BMO is helping grow the game and make soccer more accessible for players, families and communities.
In addition to the Northern Super League, BMO's soccer partnerships include Canada Soccer, Toronto FC, CF Montréal, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and LAFC. BMO also supports grassroots soccer through organizations including Ontario Soccer, BC Soccer, Québec Soccer, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Soccer Association. Together with BMO Soccer Ambassadors Alphonso Davies and Julia Grosso, these partnerships help create opportunities for players and fans while investing in the future of the sport at all levels.
